Free weight workout for women - English conversation

Free weights traditionally are for men.  The picture that I remember when going to the free weight section of the gym is only the big brawny boys grunting and working with the free weights.  I was always scared that one would drop on someone's foot! Well, women are working out with free weights but not in the same way.
